Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) Auditor Orientation

Thank you for your interest in attending an orientation to become registered to perform energy audits under the City of Austin ECAD Ordinance (No. 20081106-047) in conjunction with Austin’s Climate Protection Plan (visit www.coolaustin.org to learn more). Austin Energy has scheduled a monthly orientation for people interested in registering as ECAD auditors on the fourth Friday of each month from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. in room 130 of AE's Town Lake Center (TLC) in Room 130.

Before attending this orientation you should have received your certification as either a Rater from Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) or a Building Analyst from Building Performance Institute (BPI). In addition, if you have not already done so, you should review our ECAD information at our website: www.austinenergy.com/go/ecad in preparation of becoming an ECAD auditor. I also recommend familiarizing yourself with our Power Saver Residential Energy Efficiency Programs (visit www.austinenergy.com and Energy Efficiency tab to learn more) as well.

If you have the time while waiting for your certification from BPI or RESNET or me to process your registration, contact registered ECAD auditors and Home Performance Companies to offer your assistance in lending them your time and talent. This will help you gain experience and build their capacity at their company.

Another resource I suggest you access is the City of Austin Small Business Development Program : www.cityofaustin.org/sbdp. They have resources to help you if you are starting or expanding your business.

If you are looking to find a green job using your certification please be sure to post your information with www.workintexas.com so business that are hiring may find you.

Thank you for making the investment in your skills and lending your talents to support Austin Energy's goal to save 700 megawatts by the year 2020. Energy Efficiency is more cost effective than building new power plants.

Please contact me if you have any questions. I am looking to have another orientation in a couple weeks. I’ll let you know if we schedule one.
